When I think about my health physically it is not where I really want it to be right now, My psychological well being I think has been a little better since I started taking time to calm my self and relieve tensions and stress of the day. I can definitely always use more time to myself to discipline myself with inner peace for better thought patterns, happiness, inner healing and better metal health, I think. My spiritual level of well-being I have not yet worked on through meditation. however through prayer and and few minute of silence in the morning and at night. I could definitely use more time to find myself spiritually to inspire motivation and more encouragement in may day for myself as well as for others.
Let me see.....a plan for my spiritual, physical and psychological well being would be for me to:
A) exercise more for better health and longevity of life ( in which I am currently working on).
B) Incorporate more time for myself to meditate or have quite time just to focus on inner peace to strive for a healthier mental status, and attitude.
C) Put more time into my spiritual well-being to encourage a higher level of spiritual healing for myself mentally and physically.
In listening to the exercise and trying to accomplish each thought was difficult to me. I say this because the rainbow of colors was hard to portray in my mind for each section of my body. i felt a little lost on this one. However I did feel like I was deeply rooted into the ground like a tree. This exercise is definitely a higher level of mind body practice. I will definitely try it over and over until I am able to portray the existence of colors in my mind.

Thank you for sharing your scales on your well- being and your personal goals.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that your physical health is not where you really want it to be right now and that you plan on exercising more. What is your specific goal to achieve for your exercising? Example: Two days a week, walking. One day a week, yoga. Are you making any adjustments with the foods that you are eating? Or are you only focused on exercising more at this point in time?
More time to yourself is a great goal! Meditation and quieting the mind can do wonders. How many days a week are you trying to set aside for yourself?
You also had as a goal to put more time into your spiritual well-being. How to you plan to put more time in to this area of your life? Attending religious service more, reading more, etc.
Your strategies would also benefit me but I need to set more specific goals otherwise I find that I won’t hold myself to them! I also try and make my goals realistic. For example…when I decided to start to incorporate cardio back into my life, I started slowly. First week, I said that I would work out one day for 30 minutes. The next week, I did two days for 30 minutes. Then I started to challenge myself. How long could I walk/run in 30 minutes? Then I tried to improve my time by even a minute each time I worked out. I found that I was running/walking up to 45 minutes at a time because I was actually starting to enjoy it and I loved the challenge.
I also think that these strategies would work for my clients but again, I think they need to be more specific. Having my clients make realistic goals I think would bring them success. For example: I will try and meditate two days a week for 10 minutes. I think this is a great start and a goal that could be achieved.
Good luck on your goals!
Hello Jessica,
DeleteThanks for your response! Great question....I do have a specific plan that I am following for exercise; I walk 4 to 5 days of the week, i work out with my weights for my arms daily, and lastly I work out with billy blanks 1 to 2 times a week.....whew!! It is tough to stay on track but I am hanging in there, thanks again.
Linda,
ReplyDeleteI think that finding or making more time for oursevles is the biggest problem. I have learned in life that there are just sometimes that I need to have time to myself (even if I feel selfish) because it makes me a better person.
As far as working out I workout every day (even when it seems impossible) but sometimes I workout with my kids. We go for bike rides, I run on the treadmill at home while they read stories to me and then they walk on the treadmill and I read to them or play and sometimes when I do a fitness DVD they do it with me.
I know that it is hard to make the time to do these things but once you start it just becomes a part of ones life. Although I think that we all are if not now but at one time guilty of not making time for ourselves.
Good for you for working on your physical goal. I think that when we set goals for ourselves and start to accomplish them we find that any goal is reachable.
Great post,
Melissa Brandt
Hello Melissa,
DeleteI definitely agree, finding time for yourself is hard sometimes. However, we do need this quiet and personal time for ourselves on a regular basis to help relieve mental and physical stress and to learn help teach us how to be at peace with our inner self individually. When I start doing that myself some months ago, I wondered.....what took you so long....lol! I felt more energized each day, it was and still is amazing. Thanks for your response.

Hi Linda!
ReplyDeleteThanks for such an honest post. Like most us, we can all work on being consistent with an exercise and healthy eating plan. It seems as if one way or another life begins to get in the way, drain us of energy, and we've found another excuse to skip another day to exercise or stop for fast food. I also found it difficult like yourself to truly visualize the rainbow colors coming from my body but as I went along it seemed a little more realistic to imagine. Although it was still difficult, I stuck it out this time around unlike my frustrations from the last relaxation exercise and surprisingly found myself more relaxed at the end of it.
Hello Felix,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your response. Kudos to you for finishing the exercise!I agree I also experience some level of relaxation during the exercise as well.
Hello Linda
ReplyDeleteI like the goals you made especially meditation. I think many people in our society seem to think only physical well being is important but without our inner health physical would not matter. We all have very stressful lives and meditation and yoga are great for inner peach and inner connection. I like your blog post Linda.
Thanks for your response!!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda,
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have some concrete goals and it looks like you are well on your way to a better fitness level with your tae-bo! I wanted to commend you for taking on the goal of personal quiet time for relaxation and meditation and prayer; this is not an easy thing to do in the age we live in with technology and noise all around us, not to mention the demands others place on us. I find that positive afermation and making listes of thing I am thankful for helps my psychological well-being. I could see myself doing all of the things you are talking about with just a little help on the Tae-bo lol. I would not have any problem with recommending these goles to clients with one suggestion, make sure you write your goals out and give specific ways you will acheeve them. I have to say after the third time I have done this exercise with the rainbow, it has become easier to imagen and gain reflection. I think if you listen to the partsof the body and the emotions that are connected with them it makes more sense.
Sincerely, Ryan West
Hello Ryan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post! Tae-bo is hard, but it becomes a little easier each week you exercise, lol! Writing down goals you want to achieve is a great idea. Written goals are a sign of concrete ideas that turn into reality, I think.
