Hello Everyone,
In doing the integral assessment, I found it to be very calming and relaxing for me as I use breathing to relax myself and my mind. I was in a totally quiet room and I felt a floating type of experience. In reflecting on the four aspects of healing or integral health. I would say the pyschospiritual would be the one I would want to work on most. I would like to have a higher level of mindful healing spiritually in the future. I think in taking this class I am slowly progressing toward doing so. Meditation for me is has become a daily routine for me and I can sit still quietly for 30 minutes or more at a time.
The universal loving-kindness practice was definitely better for me without the sound of the waves crashing in the recording. The water was a little distracting for me. Although, the experience still allowed me to become grounded and flowing. I like this one much better just quiet with me repeating the phrases. I felt peace and calmness. I think for me the expansion of my mind and heart was greater.

That is great that the Integral Assessment worked for you! It is wonderful that you were able to find calm and relaxation within this exercise. I wish it would have worked for me as well. I seem to be better at relaxing on my own. I just take a few minutes here and there and try and calm my mind, take deep breaths, and just relax. It might not seem like a lot but a few minutes here and there throughout the day works well for me.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you were able to pick out an aspect in your life that you would like to work on. I too need to focus on my pyschospiritual side as well. What is your plan in order to gain a deep sense of spirituality in your life? I have talked to my young daughter about attending church with me. I think that I am going to try and take her in a few weeks to see how she does. I actually think that she might enjoy all of the singing.
The fact that you are able to meditate daily for 30 minutes is truly wonderful. I wish I was able to carve 30 minutes out of my day to relax. I think if I did that I would end up falling asleep. This is why the little intervals throughout the day work for me. I think that daily meditation is a large commitment and I would have my clients start out slowly. I would ask them to mediate one or two days during the week and then try to expand the time that they meditate along with the frequency.
Good luck to you on your spiritual journey!
Hello Jessica,
DeleteI am like you as well wanting to have a stronger spiritual connection with god. I would like to make a commitment to going to church ans being involved in activities that are more in tune with spirituality. I also want to reach a higher level of spirituality through my meditation. I am slowly trying to work toward that. However it is a commitment to meditate daily for just a few minutes a day; but I love a good challenge....lol!! Thanks for your response.

hello Linda,
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the noise part of some of the exercises. I like being able to just have some kind of music that does not change just the same sound so I do not loose my calm inner reflection when a sound startles me out of my meditation. Working on your spiritual you is a grat goal. I think we can work on our spiritual side during meditation by asking those spiritual questions we have when we are deep into the calm-abiding and listen for the answers they will come and then writing them down afterwards is a great idea. Keep up the great work and god bless and keep smiling!
Sincerely, Ryan West
Hello Ryan,
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
Hello Linda I actually liked all of them however, i felt that with this one because we were trying to form a connection with someone who was or is still very close to us and in my case it was my step father who passed away four years ago. We basically always knew what the other one was thnking and always helped each other in times of need to me this exercise helped me to clear my mind and relax so that i was able to focus on my inner health and well- being. I wish that i was able to meditate for a full 30 minutes like you do that is amazing i do what i can i would like to do it more often the only time that i meditate on a consistent basis is on Thurdays because that is whe i have the most time i often go to the beach to run and swim then when i am done i find a nice quite spot near the water on the beach and meditate for about 20 minutes i would say on average and to me notheing feels better then to meditate on the beach outdoors with the sound of the waves crashing against the shore excellent post Linda I found it to be very interesting CK.
